Commissioner Vanessa Gallego, Ward 1 Appointee since 2017. Born in Tucson, AZ on the lands of the Yeome and Tohono O'odham peoples, Vanessa Gallego is an alumni of the University of Arizona, serving currently as Chief Operating Officer of family owned and operated Recyco, Inc. Scrap Metal Recycling, a founder & Program Manager of Familias Unidas Ganando Accesibilidad (FUGA), a founder of Transit for All Coalition (TFAC) and Membership Chair of Sierra Club Nopales Group. Vanessa Gallego has been working in historically underserved and disinvested communities of the south and west side of Tucson in the intersection of mobility and environmental justice to bring equitable change by connecting and uplifting communities in voice and representation.
